    Lance Titus Discusses Knock-on Effects of Renewables on Power Markets

Mr. Titus discussed the implications to the market of increased penetration of variable resource renewables.

Prior to joining the Firm, he served as Senior Vice President of Trading and Head of Environmental Products at Twin Eagle Resource Management. Mr. Titus brings over 20-years of commodity trading experience to Guzman Energy and has held senior leadership roles at firms such as Enserco Energy, EDF Trading, Integrys Energy, Xcel Energy, NRG and Prudential Securities Inc., where he served as Chief Options Strategist for the Commodities/Futures Division and Vice President of the Alternative Investment Group.

    Mr. Titus holds B.S. degrees in Finance and Marketing from Clarion University and an MBA from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business.

  • Guzman Energy Unveils New Office And Trading Floor In Denver

    State-of-art space in downtown Denver will serve as Guzman Energy’s center of trading and origination operations

    (January 21, 2015; Denver, CO) Guzman Energy LLC is pleased to announce the official opening of its energy office and trading floor in Denver, CO. The new location consists of 3,300 sq. feet of office space, including a trading desk designed to accommodate 14 energy traders and marketers. Once fully staffed, the office will house more than 20 employees from across the Guzman Inc. portfolio of energy companies. The office is situated in the Chase building at 1125 17th Street.

    “After more than four months of planning and construction, we are pleased to be up-and-running in our new permanent office space and could not be happier with the finished product,” said Jeffrey Heit, Managing Director of Origination, Guzman Energy. “The new space gives us the infrastructure needed to serve our clients effectively.”

More than 700 attendees, the largest in the event’s history, took part in the two-day conference.     Leopoldo Guzman discusses challenges and opportunities in the wholesale energy market

    (September 23, 2014; Denver, CO) Guzman Energy Chairman and CEO Leopoldo Guzman participated in a special panel discussion during the NAEMA – WSPP 2014 Fall Conference, taking place this week in Denver, CO. Mr. Guzman spoke about the intricacies of operating a small business in the wholesale energy market. He spoke specifically about the challenges presented by credit policies at leading utilities and called on them to reevaluate these policies in light of the exit of the large banks from the business.

    “It’s time for the regulated utilities to realize that the landscape has changed – the large banks are leaving and, along with them, the large balance sheets,” said Mr. Guzman. “This is a fundamental change in our industry and one that calls for a re-evaluation of how credit is allocated to strong, healthy small businesses.”

    The conference’s Diverse Business Enterprises Special Session was sponsored by three California investor owned utilities. Serving on the panel with Mr. Guzman were senior representatives from EDF Trading and NRG.

  • Frank Wolak Joins Guzman Financial Engineers Board Of Advisors

    Mr. Wolak serves concurrently as the Holbrook Working Professor of Commodity Price Studies and the Director of the Program on Energy and Sustainable Development at Stanford University.     From April 1998 to April 2011 Frank served as the Chair of the Market Surveillance Committee of the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).     Mr. Wolak has worked extensively in the area of design and regulatory oversight of the energy markets of multiple international governments to include: England, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Australia, Indonesia, Korea, the Philippines, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador and many others. Domestically, he has contributed to design and market monitoring protocols in California, New York, Texas, PJM and New England.
